project life in may post #2 ~ construction

this is a post about a new project that i am doing during the month of may.

so, i started thinking about what i am going to use for my diy project life :) first just let me tell you that i do not want to diss beckys amazing products at all, please trust me here, but right now in my life i do not have the means put on her products. i am however longing to try a project like project life, especially after seeing many, many lovely blogposts from people who really do love what the project made for them.

ok, let me show you what i have done so far.
i have used regular 8,5x11" page protectors as my base.

and here are my tools; scissors, ruler and that rub thing that i usually use to fasten my rub-ons on paper projects. also i used a craft knife later on. oh, and my sewing machine.

first i measured out on the page protector so i could fit 2 6x4 photos on each and three smaller slides between the photos much like the 12x12 project life page protectors. i then drew a line with the rubon tool just like i would with a pencil.

i then traced the creases in the page protector with my sewing machine, slowly to prevent to have crocked stitches since the plastic isn´t very sturdy.

this is how it looks like. i then took my ruler and craft knife and cut lightly so that i had openings for all three smaller slots and also for the lower photo slot. i messed up with 2 sheets making me have to start again ;)

i also made 5 seperate smaller page protectors to hold these free download of weekly planner from nora griffin.

i plan to use these as a place to record our planned activities these weeks.

the last thing i prepared were these slots that i am using to put extra photos in. i had page protectors that had 2 photo slots that i cut apart and added dubble sided tape to the top of.

i can´t wait until i can start!

a new project idea...

well, it´s not new to the world, but for me :)
after visiting maryann´s blog where she has videos of her Project Life albums i am so very tempted to give it a go for myself. but i
don´t have the money to buy the whole shabang. i thought that i might construct something of my own...
i am pondering just trying it out for the month of may...
yepp, that´s my new project for may! i will be back with more on this soon!

stretch your sketch from ella!

blog button

i did my very first stretch your sketch challenge! i saw the latest sketch and thought; hey, i can do something with that!

i used the sketch above for 8.5 x 11" layouts.

i actually did the journaling in english althought that is not my first language. sometimes when i am making lists that i know i might share here on the blog, i write them in english so there is no trouble when i want to use them. smart, eh :)

i did my title and journaling PSE and used one of ali edwards word stamps that she sells on designer digitals for the word happy.

no virtual coffee today.

i am so busy with school work, so there will not be a virtual coffee post today. i´ll leave you with some yellow love though!

the simple things #24

if you live in the northen hemispher or anyother place with clear seasons, you all know what i feel when i can start haning my clothes out to dry, right?! pure joy is what it is!

not as planned, but still scrapbooking

i know i promised a hybrid process post today, but we worked in the garden all day yesterday and i didn´t get the time. so i´ll just throw these in for good measure!

my neice A gave me this cute drawing when i met her last time. childrens art makes me happy!
the drawing is going in a seperate page protector as a part of a double pager with this one below.

the banner is printed from one of crystal wilkersons digital kits.

can i just say how much i love the fact that my daughter is computer savvy! i was going through my photos to find a few good ones of each of the pets. then i suddenly see this mosaic in a folder. tada! my daughter made it using bighugelabs.com :)
i wanted to do a page about how good of a gang we have at the moment!

52 photos in 52 weeks: week 15+16 roundup and new prompt

hi all, i am back on track. thank you for being patient with me lately when i have been struggling with "real life".

last week the 52 photos in 52 weeks prompt was me. an easy enough theme right? well, it took until yesterday before i took this photo. i am happy with it though because i am happy like this, behind my camera lens. so this is me

this week (#16) we had a fun prompt; open. i played with it a bit and this is obviously 2 photos.

i have been wanting to do something like this for a while. the flowers has such a way to say good night and close for the day and then they greet me with an open good morning!

next weeks theme is: play

digital goodies

my post for 52 photos is coming up a bit later today. until then i wanted to share a few digital layouts with you.

i scored a cosmo cricket paper pack at jessicasprauge.com yesterday for 1 dollar and am loving the colors and pattern.

did i already share this one? i forget. either way it is the sweet crystal wilkerson that has designed all the digital stuff here.

this weekend i will be back with more digital happiness as i show you my hybrid scrapbooking process. welcome if you want!

virtual coffee ~ tuesday april 19th

welcome to this weeks virtual coffee! i am joing you with my morning coffee and i have all day infront of me!

if we were to meet for real today, i would tell you that mondays and tuesdays are study days this semester. as i have mentioned before it is hard work and even more when the sun is out and all i want is just to be outside in my garden :)
but i am now on my very last essay and i am so happy that i did take the course, i have learned so much!

if we were to meet for real today, i would tell you that yesterday was such a summers day here. i was out in capri´s and tank top! halleluja! and i hung my laundry out for the first time this year and i almost cannot explain how happy that makes me!

if we were to meet for real today, i would tell you that i am hard at work on my new exhibit. i had my very first photo show and i am doing another one at the end of may! and as i said last year, it is hard work! it does get easier now that i have finally decided on which theme i am going with and which photos that are going to be shown. now i am working on printing and different display ideas.

if we were to meet for real today, i would tell you that i am about to go out in the sunshine and have a bit of a reading session. you can study outside too, you know :)

it is scraplift saturday!

i stumble across so many wonderful scrapbooking layouts every week while i roam the internet. today i thought i´d share a few of my recent favorites, telling you why i love them and then attempt to scraplift/draw inspiration from them. sounds good? cool, let´s go!

layout number 1 by Jen Jockish: sweetheart
what i love: the fact that Jen let the patterned paper blocks take up half of the page. and i like that she chose to have the photos in black and white.

my take:

layout number 2 by Kim Morgan: family
what i love: that the page is about the photo! sometimes i like to just save a photo with not so many words.

my take:

note: this is an older layout from may 2010.

layout number 4 by Melanie Louette: sweet spring
what i love: the collage of photos is yummy! i like that Melanie used part of her 4th photo as her journaling spot.

my take:

layout number 5 by nichole duenke: 34 weeks
what i love: i think i love the simple umpfh that Nichole created with the tape strips and just adding a few butterflies. the photo sizes are cool too. and Nicholes handwriting is always so good!

my take:

layout number 6 by Jenni Hufford: us at one
what i love: i love the layering on this layout! i don´t layer as much as i should! i also love that Jenni ripped the back patterned paper and sewed it down. the title on the photo is cool too.

my take:

well, that is it. i hope that you enjoyed todays post as much as i enjoyed scrapping these :)

in the making: scraplift saturday!

i am hard at work for a big scrapbooking post coming in a few hours. it is all about scraplifting other amazing scrapbookers! see you soon!
